Vanilla Custard

Easy to make vanilla custard filling for your cakes. Tastes just like pudding.

Vanilla Custard


  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract


  1. Bring sugar, cornstarch, salt, egg yolks ans milk to a boil in a small saucepan over medium heat ( about 20 min), whisking constantly until thickened. Remove from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla. Cover with Saran Wrap and chill for 2 hours.

hi i am look for a cake filling for a fondant cake that i will be making i have been leaning towards this filling but i would like to know if this filling will not get messed up over night if left at room temp


I made the recipe and it tastes great. It doesn't make a lot, but I have not tried in in a cake yet or leaving it out overnight.
