Do you have to heat these together or just blend them in a mixer?

and me ........ anyone made it ? not sure how the sugar would'nt be grainy ??
Made this according to the recipe and it was horribly grainy. So bad I had to throw it out could not use it on my cake.
It was grainy for me too but the flavor was fabulous! I want to try it again and somehow melt the sugar.

Yes you have to melt the sugar and butter together I am sorry I didn't mention it I don't know why didn't type the recipe right. I am really sorry, girls. But any way melt the sugar and butter and let it cool and then mix all the ingredients.
what is the texture? I want to use it between layers on a 4 teir wedding cake so I need to be sure it is stable!
