My mom Alice used to make this cake for all of our family functions. I make it now for birthdays and it is famous with everyone. It is delicious even without icing (tastes great with buttercream too)
Alice’s Pound Cake
- 3 cups sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 sticks butter
- 1/2 cup crisco
- 6 eggs
- 3 cups flour
- 1 cup milk
recommended to have butter, eggs and milk at room temp. but works well either way
- Cream sugar, butter, crisco and vanilla together. Add eggs one at a time. Add flour and milk in thirds alternatively.
- Pour cake batter into prepared cake pan. DO NOT preheat oven. cook at 325 degrees for approx. 90 min.
