Caramel Brownies

These are my award winning caramel brownies. They are easy to make and are always a hit! They are excellent to ship over seas to our service men and women so I have been asked several times for the recipe. I decided to post it here but if you do make these to send overseas feel free to PM me for some tips on packaging them! Enjoy!

Caramel Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 chocolate cake mix (dry)
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 bag of caramels
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in mixing bowl, add dry cake mix, and 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Mix together (mixture will be very thick). Take half of mixture and press into bottom of lightly greased, 9×13 pan. Bake brownie base at 350 for 5 minutes. While that is in the oven unwrap caramels and melt in microwave with 1/3 cup evaporated milk (takes about two minutes, check the mixture half way and stir). When the caramel mixture is melted pour it over brownie base. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the caramel. With your hands take chunks of remaining brownie mixture and sprinkle over the top. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
  2. Let cool completely before you cut them. Enjoy but BEWARE, highly messy and addictive!
