What would a good icing be for this cake? Also is the "pralines creamer" ingredient a praline flavored coffee creamer?
I've already begun to make this cake for my Grandma's 82nd birthday and I realized 2 things: baking POWDER is listed in the ingredients BUT baking SODA is listed in the directions. And, I don't know if I should have gotten liquid or powder creamer. I hope the liquid is what was intended! I assumed this since it was listed with the wet ingredients. I'm going to have to pray this comes out!! Also, I'm adding 1/4 tsp of cardamom for some extra depth of flavor.
Absolutely to die for with an apple filling. Yum! I also used an English Toffee creamer since I couldn't find praline, but it worked out fabulous. I used baking POWDER as listed in the ingredients and not the soda that is listed in the instructions.
Yes, sorry for the confusion. It is baking powder - no soda and I used the creamer liquid which makes the cake a little heaver than using a powder.
Oh and as for a frosting, which was asked a LONG time ago, I have done many but a standard cream cheese frosting is to die for.
I made a 4 tier (4", 6", 8", 10") birthday with this recipe. My family is big into spice cake with penuche frosting. It was a HUGE it. Everyone thought it was delicious.
What section is Praline creamer in? Ive never seen it before. Thank you!
I love this recipe! I also couldn't find pralines creamer so I used the "International Delight" Southern Butter Pecan creamer! This cake sorta tastes like a snickerdoodle! I cut the recipe in half just to make a few cupcakes as "testers" before I made the full recipe for an event! It's definately going to be a hit! Thanks for sharing this recipe!
All-purpose or cake flour?
