I found this a couple of years ago and have been using it ever since. I have recently started adding other flavorings instead of vanilla with some great results!

8 ingredient Yellow Cake


  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 3/4 c. flour
  • 3 tsp. baking pwd.
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 3/4 c. milk


    Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour pan(s) or spray with baking spray. Cream together shortening and sugar, then add eggs and vanilla. In separate bowl mix dry ingredients. Alternate adding the milk and flour to the shortening mixture. Pour in pan(s) and bake 40-45 mins. Use either a 9×13, 2 8″ or 2 9″ pans. If making a 2 layer 10″, make a recipe and a half.

I DID NOT have ANY luck with this cake. Good thing I tried it a couple of days before the cake was due.... I had time to recover with my cake extender stand by. The cake stuck (Even with greased Wilton pans!) and when I was retrieving the scraps, it didn't really taste that great.

i didnt have one problem with this cake.It always comes out of the pan with no trouble and tastes good.
