After trying numerous macaroon recipes, this is the one to keep!
- 5 1/2 c. flaked coconut (I use half fresh dried)
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 Tablespoon flour
- Mix all ingredients together. Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes.GENEROUSLY Grease a cookie sheet with shortening(crisco). Make balls the size of an average meatball…roll in your hand to compress. Place on cookie sheet and flatten slightly (for more even cooking). Place in a 325* oven for 15 min. They will be done when they have browned slightly around the edges. Let cool on cookie for 2 min. (no longer) then spatula them loose and cool . Place in loosely sealed container. Can dip in chocolate or drizzle on top for effect.
