Super Easy Chocolate Cake
I have used this recipe for many years. It’s extremely easy and tastes wonderful. It will fill a 9×13 pan and 1 – 6 inch round pan. It’s great with or without frosting and is great for making sculptured cakes.
Super Easy Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 5 Tbsp. cocoa, sifted
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 3 cups flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup boiling water
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 325F.
- Beat butter, sugar, and cocoa until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Add flour and buttermilk alternately, beginning and ending with flour; blend well. Add boiling water; mix slowly until just combined. BATTER WILL BE THIN, DO NOT ADD FLOUR. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 45 minutes.
Dear Sugarflowers, What is buttermilk? I live in Holland and don't know what it is. Could you please explain it to me?

ladyn: if you cannot get buttermilk you can mix vinegar and milk i think...i am unsure of the proportions since i never have.
to make buttermilk use 1 cup of whole milk with 1 to 2 tsp of lemon juice let it sit for about 10 mins and it will make buttermilk
