Without flavoring, this frosting has the flavor of sweet cream ice cream. The consistency is similar to that of buttercream but sweeter and not as prone to melt. Is especially delicious on carrot or chocolate cakes.

Portsmouth Frosting


  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 4 1/2 -5 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 tsp flavoring of your choice (optional)


    Combine butter and cream, then slowly add sugar until it reaches the desired consistency. You may not need all the sugar.
