Debbie, a co-worker gave me a piece of this cake, I had to have the recipe.
Crusty Pound Cake
Ingredients
- 1 stick butter, room temp.
1 c Crisco
3 c white sugar
5 large eggs, room temp.
3 c all purpose flour
pinch of salt
1/4 t baking powder
2 t vanilla
1 c whole milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325* Combine butter, Crisco, and sugar. Mix until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift dry ingredients 3 times. Add to mixture alternately with milk beginning and ending with flour. Add vanilla. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake on the lower rack of the oven for 1 1/2 hours.
