Basbousa Cake(samolina cake)

Its Arabic cake and very famous in Arab countries


  • 1). Samolina 1 cup
  • 2). Yougurt 1 cup
  • 3). Coconut powder 1 cup
  • 4). Sugar 1 cup
  • 5). Oil 1/2 cup
  • 6). Baking powder 1 1/2 teaspoon
  • 7). Crushed almonds


  1. First of all, pre-heat the oven at 150 C and grease the cake pan properly for clean and neat cake out.

Mix Samolina,yougurt,coconut powder and oil well in a bowl with the help of hand, then slowly add sugar, baking powder and almonds
in it. You can also decorate the cake by topping few almonds on cake top, let the cake to bake in oven at 180 C.

When I use nuts or almonds in my recipes, I normally go generous, I hardly follow the recommended amount, and it has never hurt the outcome. :)

So I'm guessing for this recipe, the contributor didn't state the amount as it is up to the baker to add to her liking.
