Chocolate Whipped Cream Frosting

I made this frosting for my sons 1st birthday smash cake. I needed chocolate but with less sugar. This frosting held up well outside the refridgerator for roughly 4 hours before he – well… smashed it!
The original recipe was taken from Allrecipes.com and doctored to add the chocolate, marshmallow fluff and less sugar. If you want a white whipped frosting, use clear vanilla extract.

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 oz package) Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/8 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 2 cups (1 = 12 oz package) Special Dark Chocolate Chips
  • 1/2 cup marshmallow fluff

Instructions

Directions: Cream together cream cheese, sugar, salt and vanilla until smooth. Melt chocolate chips in microwave until melted and let cool to room temp. In a small bowl whip heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form (set aside in refridgerator), Mix melted chocolate with cream cheese mixture and mix well and then fold in Whipped cream. Lastly – fold in marshmallow fluff, Make about 4 cups frosting.

So yummy! Very rich. Make sure melted chocolate has time to cool to room temp. I was a bit impatient and the frosting was a little soft. Would also make a nice filling.
