Easy Passion Fruit Mousse

We have a rather large Oriental supermarket here and I found different fruit concentrates like Passion fruit, guava, strawberry etc. The concentrates are thick like corn syrup and are sweet. I use them for most of my recipes that call for any type of extracts. The passion fruit concentrate is sweet but has a strong tangy flavor too.

Ingredients

  • 1 8 oz package cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup passion fruit concentrate
  • 2-3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream

Instructions

In a medium sized bowl, cream together the cream cheese and passion fruit concentrate till well combined. In a separate bowl, use an electric mixer and beat the cream on high speed until it is thick and holds a peak when you take the beater out. Beat in the powdered sugar, being sure it is entirely mixed in. Stir about 1/3 of the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until combined, then fold the cream cheese/cream mixture into the remaining whipped cream. Makes about 4 cups

*The powdered sugar is to your taste – sometimes I don’t add it at all if the cake this mousse is paired with is very sweet. The tartness of the passion fruit evens it out

we have an oriental market too, but I can find it there. Where do you find it in the store? In the Baking aisle, fruit aisle or somewhere else? Is it called anything else other than fruit concentrate?

Its called Passion Juice. The rest of the bottle is in Chinese but it has a picture of the passionfruit on the label. In the oriental market I have its at the end if the aisle with canned fruit (If that helps) I buy strawberry syrup and guava also. Its kind of thick like maple syrup HTH
