Beer Spice Cake

A quick and easy spice cake made with beer! Our family enjoys this cake as a Christmas Eve goodie!

Beer Spice Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup beer

Instructions

1 Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan. Sift together flour, baking powder, cloves, cinnamon, allspice baking soda and salt. Set aside.

2 In a large bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Add flour mixture alternately with beer and mix well to combine. Fold in the chopped walnuts.

3 Pour into a 9×5 inch loaf pan. Bake at 375 degrees F for 40 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
