Captiva Cake Pink And Brown

Captiva Cake Pink And Brown on Cake Central

This is my own signature design -- fustrated with disaster whimsy cakes, but wanting a differnt look -- developed the Captiva line == Captiva, French for "cage" -- these cakes are encased in a cage of fondant -- made basically by putting covered boards that are at least 2 inches larger than the cake -- and then applying fondant strips --

This is one of my favoirtes...

the create a great illusion --

That's one of the most unique and clever designs I've ever seen! Congrats on the Captiva line....it's wonderful! Do you get a lot of orders for these?

I do quite a few for family and friends -- the original one was a 3 piece wedding cake -- they are fun to do -- I like them because they are unusual -

Love this cake, LOVE it. My favorite color combination and a cute design. Trying to remember how I know you Melissa. Maybe another cake forum?

This is simply stunning!!! don't be surprised if many of us "copy" your captiva line. It's very inspirational. One question, since you used cakeboards, how do you cut it, disassemble it first????

That is very cool! I didn't realize that the stripes were touching the cake at first. Very cool. LOVE the colors! Fantastic :)
