....and The Table Was Set

....and The Table Was Set on Cake Central

This was a little cake made of fruit......not a popular type of cake in the USA I don't think but pretty traditional here in Scotland. It was covered in marzipan and then sugarpaste. I modelled all the little items from modelling paste. My mother-in-law was the recipient of this cake. She went door to door with it around her neighbourhood!

These letters are just hand written with a No. 1.5 piping tip and a little icing bag made from parchment paper. It's royal icing. It can be painted over too if you are careful. I shall put a wedding cake onto the site where I piped all of a verse onto the cake and painted it with bright gold. Very delicate!

You are really good. I'm planning to make something similar this Saturday and my tea set is sitting there waiting to dry. Yours is definitely very much nicer.

The detail on the napkin was achieved by drawing the lines with edible pens before I folded it, then painted on the red with a fine brush and paste colouring. The teapot was brushed with lustre dust colour and then painted over with confectioner glaze. The pattern was painted on with a little lustre dust mixed with a drop of glaze. It looks and smells like nail varnish!
