I purchased the lights at Walmart in the wedding section. Cut some bubble tea straws to size, hollowed out that portion where the headlight would go and then inserted into cake before delivery. They can be on for about 6 hours. My husband loved it and was very proud of around his cruising friends. I did use the 1/2 foamcore for the base and same pieces of the 1/2 in. (about 3 in height) so that there would be clearance for the wheels. I used a remote control car as my model as well as my husband's c...

Great! I love it! I just got finished making a small prototype corvette for an order next week, I was wondering how you kept it shiny?

Thank you, Connie0603, I was researching how to get fondant shiny here on CC and found that by doing a 50/50 mix of vodka and corn syrup and then just paint it on did an incredible job. It dried within 25 minutes and as my husband's car is pearl white on top I just added some pearl luster dust to the glaze it covered great. For the windows, I just added a little bit of black Americolor to the glaze and it made it nice and black again. Wish I would have known this when I did the hat for my Marine cake.

Thanks CatherineR I will try it, I was looking at edible laquer, but found it quite expensive. I like the idea of using whats in your cupboard. Amazing ! I am still in awe over your cake!

Connie0603, I really liked this varnish because it dried where there was no tackiness. I made 1T. each of vodka and corn syrup because I didn't think it would be enough but I had a lot left over after mixing with pearl luster dust, nusilver and black coloring.
