Last week, I was asked to create a 'vintage sewing machine' cake for a friend of mine whose mother was turning 70. This cake was dark chocolate mudcake with chocolate fondant icing that I coloured black. I was concerned about the black food colouring leaving its evidence all over the mouths of those who ate cake, and was very happy to hear that this didn't happen and nobody was left stained...
