Course 2 Cake - Buttercream With Royal Icing Flowers

Course 2 Cake - Buttercream With Royal Icing Flowers on Cake Central

I just finished this cake today in class. It's the 4th cake that I have ever decorated. While I was doing the basket weave I got talking with one of the other students and missed a horizontal stripe twice which ended up throwing off the ends where they meet up. I camouflaged that spot with more flowers:-) P.S. I loved doing this cake but I'm so exhausted from making the flowers into the wee hours of the night so the kids didn't come and nab them on me!! Thanks for looking!

You did a great job! The flowers are really good! You've learned quick, when you make a mistake, cover it up with flowers or leaves! Keep up the good work! I remember how proud I was of my first basket weave cake. Doesn't it make you proud?!

You did a great job on this cake. Your flowers are lovely, as is the basketweave. And good save on the accident. Excellent job on this.

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments! I changed the cake board from aluminum paper to wrapping paper/clear paper after reading several threads on CC. My 1st 3 boards were all covered in aluminum paper because that is what we were told to use in class (I'm sure my instructor was just trying to save us some $$). I'll have to find a easier way to wrap though, as found it pretty difficult to do! Thanks again for looking! :D :D

Critique subgroup member: Alleluia no tin foil!!!!! Your piping has really improved!!!! Your drop flowers are exquisite. Your basket weave and rope border is lovely. Unfortuanelty that icing seems a bit overworked. I would pick up ShirleyW's IMBC recipe online here and make that. Once you go to real BC you will not look back!!!!!! Are you proud! Should be!!!!! It's pretty.
