A cake made for the parish mission at my church. Large leaves are all gumpaste; smaller ones and acorns are 50/50. I was amazed at how much more realistic the leaves were after dusting and steaming them!
Thanks for the compliment! I had read about steaming gumpaste decorations in one of the forums here. They said to just for a few seconds to hold the leaf, flower etc. in the steam from a teapot. I actually was making pasta the evening that I did this and just held my leaves over the pot of boiling water. You have to be careful not to keep them there too long or your decorations will melt! They will be a little damp so just lay them aside until they dry. They'll have a very pretty sheen.
