I'm curious what the Guinness people have to say about this.

Why?

Although it will most likely be an interesting wedding cake, it's certainly not the largest.

I think they are referring to it being the most individual decorators working on one single cake.

Aha. Didn't think about that.

I wonder how many people here are actually going to take up this 'offer'? Maybe one, perhaps fifty, a thousand? It'll be interesting.

I know I am doing some pieces. I think they should put a sign up list to see how many sign up to do it. Or even someone post a poll.

Ok, not to get people in a tiff, but even with a poll and people comitting to making something, how much of it will arrive intack and usable? I am worried about making something that get broke in the mail! Do we need USPS or FedEX or is there even a preference?

Oh, Jackie!! Congrats to you both. I think this is an amazing idea for your wedding cake. I would love to participate, but I am scared I would make a horrid piece that would never make it on. I wouldn't want that. I know that it is going to be a glorious cake for a glorious day!!! Who knows, maybe I will get up the nerve to try out something to add. You both have been such a great help in my cake experiences of the last few years. I wish you both a wonderful life together!!! God bless you!!!

If it is packed very carefully, the pieces should arrive intact, they are not large pieces so I can't see a problem with the shipping. I am going to be ordering my 'Kit' at the end of the month & feel proud to be a part of this project for two wonderful people.

One way that people will be able to get a sense of actual participation is if people upload the pics of their completed pieces to the "CakeCentral Wedding Cake Project" gallery as mentioned on the info page Thumbs Up!

Also I think that's why Jackie recommended using a styro ball for round pieces, and a wire skeleton for the swirly pieces--to help make them less fragile.

How cool is this idea? It's seriously cool if you ask me! I think it's neat that they want to include us in their wedding by letting us help w/their cake! WOW is all I can say!!

I'm going to make pieces.....I can't wait!!!

Ok, the white sparkle and champagne we need to add to the gumpaste or make the paint with it. I am a little dense with instructions. Embarassed

I have changed the instructions... go ahead and paint the shapes with any color or color combination dust from the kit.

Sorry for the initial confusion, I certainly didn't mean to make it so convoluted!

I also update the delivery date. I will need to have them delivered by June 1 2009

I would have you choose whatever is the most cost effective shipping method for you.

If I make a round piece, using gunpaste, do you want it to be hollow, or a solid piece.

I know that making it hollow may facilitate in breaking. But making it solid won't be kinda heavy? It's just a thought.

I think a solid piece will be too heavy. Also I would think that would take an enourmous amount of gumpaste.

I was thinking you could use styrofoam or something like that.
I would think a hollow round piece might be too fragile? (Please correct me if I am wrong)

Or If you come up with a new technique, or idea altogether please let us know!

I had asked the pulled sugar question and didn't see a response yet. I thought it would make a nice compliment to the gumpaste pieces.....and since part of the chandelier must be glass it would look closer to the real piece without being too over the top........but, others would have to also make pieces or it would be off balance, visually. Did anyone else want/plan to do pulled sugar pieces?? Cool
Mark

I would certainly accept pulled sugar pieces. I just worry about how fragile they are, and problems with humidity etc. That is entirely up to you!
