I was supposed to do a vendor fair tonight. Very low key and probably only 20-30 people in attendance, but it was my first real attempt at getting my name out there with friends, but... it's gonna pass me by.
First, I have been developing a TERRIBLE toothache for the last couple days and today hit the "I gotta see a dentist NOW" state" I'm taking Tylenol 3 until I can get in and I STILL feel the ache in my jaw. So, now I'm a bit out of it with the Tylenol...
Then, my toddler came down with a 103 temp today.
Put those together and trying to even make a dummy cake is impossible. So, I'm skipping it...
Feeling a little bummed, it's like there's someone out there that just doesn't want this to happen for me (and i'm not religious)...

Hang in there...nothing worth having comes easy! I just got over a major toothache with Tylenol 3's as well...I couldn't imagine having to care for a sick child when I was feeling like that. I'm sure this will be one opportunity of many to get your name out there. Whenerver I feel discouraged by a missed opportunity, an even better one typically soon follows and lifts my spirits!

You know, sometimes we just have bad weeks and you think it just can't get any worse.
I will tell you what happened to me and when you get through laughing, maybe your next week will be better.
First I was going to make a double pumpkin spice cake for about 40 teachers and after my mix was together I found that my pumpkin expired in 2005. So, it is 8:30 at night and I pack my toddler into the car and head for the store. I buy 10 cans of pumpkin so I won't run out any time soon and the checker puts them all in one plastic sack. I get home and the sack breaks and I end up chasing 10 cans of pumpkin down the driveway, in the mud, and down the street. I do get my cakes made, but not without stress.
Then, I only needed a single serving size spongebob cake for a friend. So, I half the cake recipe and use the mini loaf pan for the cake. In the process I use the last of my flour. Hear I am thinking I am lucky that the loaf pan has eight little cakes so if I mess one up I have seven back ups. Well, the cakes bake just fine and they are done cooling so I am flipping them out and the stinking pan is so slick that as I am turning it over it slides right off my cooling rack. All eight cakes fall out on my counter and then the pan falls on top of them and smashes them all. Now, you tell me that isn't bad luck.
I will tell you now, my pantry is stocked up and I won't be running out of ingredients any time soon. This week has been much better.
I hope your toothache gets better soon and your baby is well. Hang in there.

Did you have an infection in your tooth? Did you require a root canal? I had this happen once before and I needed to have a root canal. I kind of knew this was coming as the dentist was afraid this tooth might need a root canal and I've been kind of stalling on it as my toddler still nurses so much and I didn't want to deal with nursing issues and dental work - well, guess my tooth decided the time was NOW...
I'm just hoping that this ache is not an infection that stalls taking care of the tooth even longer. I mean, if I feel this much with tylenol 3 - how would I feel without it? I think I would want to die. Makes me wonder how people survived in the stone ages with toothaches - I would be begging someone to yank my tooth for me!

Hope your baby and toothache are both better...nothing worse than the throb of an aching face due to teeth..I feel for you and poor baby...the world isn't right if you child is ill...hope baby gets better soon!
I am a firm believer in the saying when one door closes, another opens..so be on the look out for another opportunity when everything has calmed down....
Hang in there and look after yourselves...

Well, the good news is that the vendor fair was poorly attended (like less than 8 people), so that would have been an awful lot of work for such little exposure. Also, the little guys fever seems to have been a one time thing and he's been acting fine and even his appetite picked up a bit, so hopefully it was just one of those things with him.
For me? I'm holding in there and thanking my good thinking about saving those Tylenol 3 pills from my surgery this summer! Yikes, imagining this pain with over the counter medicine is frightening!

Melissa,
Have you checked with your dentist? Mine said the local anesthetic was fine if I was nursing a child. I had a tooth fixed and it didn't affect my child nursing at all.

The nursing shouldn't be a problem now, though they still advocate pump and dump, but that's because they don't know for sure. I'll be fine with a local anesthetic. I was mainly worried for the little guy because he is NEVER apart from me and until very recently, he wouldn't let me out of his sight without screaming and the only person he knows is DH and DH can't take work off easily and my MIL and she has bad osteoperosis and isn't supposed to lift the little guy at all. But, now that he can walk and can climb onto the couch himself, she can probably handle it for a couple hours while I'm at the dentist. Not that I have a choice any more - this tooth has got to be fixed ASAP.

well, I had my root canal today and it was a piece of cake. Almost wish I could have all my teeth done and just be done with all teeth problems for the rest of my life! LOL
That mysterious high fever of DS disappeared last night, but in a way it was a blessing because he wasn't sick sick, but more lethargic which means I didn't have to chase him around as much when I was a slug myself.
So... all is good now. Might have to bake for the election workers! LOL
