Pirate Wedding Ship

My daughter wanted a pirate wedding, this is the cake idea we came up with. The main base was styrofoam with a cake layer on top. The sails were gum paste, cut, layed out, and dried hard. The masts were dowels covered with thined royal icing until it dried, then everything was assembled together at the wedding. If you need any ideas for a pirate wedding, we came up with alot of them.

I can't imagine hearing someone say I want a pirate ship wedding cake! I would've been comepletely stumped. Who knew a pirate ship could be so beautiful and elegant??!! The couple figurine looks like it was made to sit there. Love what you did with the sails, too. You did an amazing -- amazing job!!!
