Happy Sparkly 80Th
This is for my mother-in-law who will be 80 years old this weekend. She is having a very big party so a big cake was required! It is fruit on the bottom and the other tiers are plain old sponge filled with buttercream. I used cutters for all the shapes and painstakingly glued and sparkled them before sticking them with royal icing. I wired the crystals a few weeks ago to make sure they wouldn't fall off! The glittery design will be pulled off before cutting the cake...I don't think I'll be watching!
This is gorgeous!!!
Absolutely stunning! Simple design, yet very classy!! I love it!!1
Wow! Very oretty! I love the sparkles! Is it sugar?
The sparkle is from Edable Art and is used on cakes but isn't edible. It does no harm at all but it is best to remove the design before eating. It's pretty though!
Wow that's stunning!!! I need to buy the sparkles, what do i look for lol?!
That is absolutely gorgeous! I'd love it as a wedding cake. What cutters did you use for the side designs?
The cutters I used were one design from FMM Decorative Design tappits (see them on Lindy Smith site) and a little teardrop cutter and a piping tip for the circle. I just played with shapes til I found a design I liked.
Beautifu!! I love the design and the sparkly 80, i bet your MIL loved it!
