Fairy Cake- A Lot Of 1Sts

Fairy Cake- A Lot Of 1Sts on Cake Central

This is far from perfect, but it is my first stacked cake, my first fairy... all for my first born who is 13.... She adores fairies and these colours, each of my children helped me make the daisies so that they could have a hand in her cake. She has Aspergers and will love this cake despite it's imperfections... Please do comment, and add any positive changes I could have made. The wings were made with leaf gelatin and coloured with paste, all other decs made with fondant or gumpaste,,,

Thanks everyone, I think I smoothed the fondant into submission... it didn't dare NOT be smooth lol As for the fairy's face YES I think it looks a bit scary too! I didn't have any light brown paste colour at the time, The black was far to fierce! the actual fairy was made with the wilton people mould and bent into a sitted cross legged position...

I think it's gorgeous! Wouldn't change a thing! And no way I would ever guess ANY of those things were your "firsts"...outstanding job! What a lucky little girl to have a mommy like you. :)

You did an absolutely fantastic job. Especially with so many "firsts". I love the colors and the mushrooms are adorable. With all the love that went into this cake it couldn't have turned out anything but perfect.

I'm new so I wouldn't have any idea about changes but you sure did a great job. I love it. You did so many techniques. Terrific. Susie :)

When I read your comments about being 'imperfect' I had to go look again, I see no imperfections at all! It is absolutley stunning! I have a question though - the daisies on the side of the cake? What cutters did you use? They are gorgeous and just what I'm looking to use on a cake I have coming up :) Thank you.

Hi regan, the cutters are umarked but they are white plastic cutters in packs of 4 prefixed N1 - N4, I am pleased with the findant which came out smooth, but the top of the cate was a little domed so I had to build the fairy up as I had made and stuck her on a board.. it came out all right though as it looks like she is sitting in a fairy ring of flowers.. I also cut the fondant a little short when trimming the base of the cakes, so had to use the ribbon. Also the fairy's arm fell off and as her dress was

continued form las comment..... As her dress was so fragile I couldn't get it stuck on properly it originally held te book with the other arm... So I had to cover it a little ... My hubby said he is sure people make mistakes all the time but just cover them up as they go along... I hope he is right! The daisies by the way, I just softened the edges with a ball tool and creased them with a pointy tool I have.... Thanks again for all your nice comments.

It is a beautiful cake and fairy!!! Just a tip that i figured out lately so the figures don't get stuck on the board is that when you finish molding it on the normal base with a thin knife open the stucked up base ( figure has to be still not dried to be able to do that) move it to a base where you have a paper kitchen towel underneath. let it sit and dry on that. you shouldn't have problem moving them later.
