Whimsical Kitty

Whimsical Kitty on Cake Central

My friend wanted a whimsical kitty cake with yellow eyes to look like her black cat Ben! This was my first attempt ever at a sculpted cake and she LOVED it. I used buttercream, fondant and airbrush technics.. It was fun and I learned a lot of what not to do!

The Whimsical Kitty... is that the same artist that lives in New Orleans? If so I've met her! She does cute paintings of cats. Your cake looks just like her cats~ Great job~

One thing I learned is not to overcoat with the airbrush.(I had to do a lot of dabbing afterwards) Also, I ended up doing the nose three times before I got it right..also I had to work on the shape of the eyes several times When I was done, everything was covered in black and I ran out of paper towels!! I would definetely be more organized so it wouldn't be such a messy process. It was a fun project anyway

what size pans did you use to do this? It's really cute, but I'm not sure I could cut up a cake that looked like my own cat! :o

I used the sports ball pan for the body and a 4" round pan that I cut down with a round cutter. The tail is all buttercream
