Pirate Ship
A birthday cake for a friend's son's 6th birthday,I used a rectangular cake pan and built up the height by stacking shaped pieces of cake at the back of the ship and I carved the shape at the front to a point then I just made paper sails and decorated the board.The treasure chest is a little cake covered in fondant.
Great work. How did you get the color for the ship? Is that airbrush? And how did you get the white on the wavecaps? You do awesome work!!!
Thank you so much for your kind comment!To get the brown colour for the wooden parts of the ship I coloured up some sugarpaste with superflairs chesnut brown paste and then when it had dried a little I painted it with the same colour diluted with a little clear alcohol ( I use vodka!) the alcohol evaporates and is tastless when consumed so fine for children to eat plus its a really small amount anyway.The wave caps I just brushed over with some white fondant which I had diluted with cooled boiled water

Wonderful cake! Did you just cover the bottom with one piece of sugarpaste and then mark some lines on it? How did you get the light brown around the edge? It all looks perfect!!
