Kenosha Lighthouse
This is a huge cake I made for my Grandma's Birthday! The light house is German Chocolate filled with Cream Cheese Icing (recipe from CC) and covered with crusting bc. Water, pier, sand is marble covered with cream cheese Icing except for the pier which is crusting bc. The rocks are fondant. This cake was soo much fun to make! OH! The little light inside is a small light in the wedding isle that you can put in balloons and such. Thanks for looking!

Crtique subgroup member: I did the Splitrock lighthouse about 1-1/2 years ago, and determined the idea was better then the actual cake. LOL. Your light is a nice touch. Did grandma want a lighthouse? Sorry for the next statement - but as with my lighthouse cake, the design seems too phallic. :D :D :D
critique subgroup member: What a neat concept. The light is a great effect. Your fondant rocks look very realistic. The light house itself looks a little rough at the bottom, but other than that everything looks good.
Critique subgroup member: You are brave to attempt a cake such as this. I don't do well at all with "non-flat" cakes! :D The light is a great addition to the cake. The only thing that bothers me just a bit is the rocks. They are shiny (cool effect for the water on the rocks though) and the color, and the size. Maybe a bit more color on the rocks wouldn't weird me out so much! :D I do love your water effect.
Critique group member: I really love the design of this cake- the rocks, the sand, and especially your water look awesome. The only thing I can see is that your bc icing on your lighthouse isn't quite smooth enough and it interferes with the overall picture of perfection you have going. Great touch putting a fondant sign on the cake instead of writing it directly on the cake :)
Critique group member: Very interesting I like the addition of the light. Something just bothers me about this cake though I can't really pin point it though. One can say though is the pier lacks defination it just looks like a brown blob I did not know what it was supposed to be until I read the description.
Critique subgroup member: Lighthouses are tough - I did one and I think it looks phallic too! :) Lighthouses generally have a platform or walkway around the light. That might help the shape. I like the whitecaps on the water. I'd like to see the water extend past the pier wher it kind of just ends. I like the rocks and I love the electrification - wish i had done that! :)
