This was fun. This is the first time I've done the scroll work like this with a #4 tip. Iced in buttercream with poinsettia made from chocolate and fondant pearls. Also brushed the chocolate leaves with luster dust.
Thanks everyone! I must say I was pleased with the poinsettia myself. Easy, easy, easy! I did the same thing I did for my fall leaves cake; got a bunch of cheap silk poinsettias; took one apart; and piped on the backside of the leaves, then pulled apart after set. (Make sure wash your fake flower petals good first.) then I just dusted them with luster dust (orchid for the pink and green for the leaves) I used Wilton candy melts too, btw. Anyone can do this. Pearls are made of fondant that is rolled in pearl dust. You can learn how to make them by going to earlenescakes dot com.
Is this a french buttercream, it has an ivory tint to it, I love it! All the details are exquisite! Beautiful job.
