1/2 vanilla, 1/2 chocolate cupcakes for a grandmother who does beautiful cross stitch on linen. My colors were not quite what I wanted but overall I think it turned out well
I think you did a super job. I did a cake with cross syitch lettering and it wasn't anywhere as good as yours. Soooo, how DID you do the cross stitch? I did one "x " at a time. There must be an easier way.
Thanks! I found an actual cross stitch pattern online and enlarged it to a size I thought would be manageable and used a tracing wheel over all the lines that included the x's. I used that to mark the squares on the bc. Then I just followed the written pattern and started putting x's in! It was rather time consuming.
Okay, you and your cake are amazing!!! I've never seen anything like this! My jaw just hit the floor! Into my faves although I know I will never be able to do this, I will want to look at this some more!!! WOW! :D
I use the large icer tip to flat ice the cupcakes. It really goes on quite quickly and easily. As far as batter amounts, I have a large cookie scoop that I use to fill the cupcakes. I also use a sheet of parchment and a flat cookie sheet to press down on the tops as soon as I take them out of the oven so that they are even. The vanilla and chocolate were not quite the same height, but the icer tip puts on enough that you can keep it smooth and level. HTH
Oh dear me. i would so love instructions on how to do this design (i plan on doing it on a cake) for my MIL she's done many a cross stitch for the family- my kids and a very dear gift for my husband and i's anniversary one year- it was a special request- i found a wonderful design at a yard sale "happyness is being married to your best friend" and i asked if she'd make it one day for me- and she did :) kind of a double gift. I'd really love to learn how to do this to give something back to her gene...
