Thanks everyone for the nice comments!! Ok, for the size - I made a 11x15x2 and divided it into thirds - that still wasn't tall enough for me so I made a half (recipe) for the 11x15 (making it only 1 inch tall)
I torted each layer and I didn't use one of the 1" layers. Therefore I had (8) 1 inch pieces that were approximately 4 1/2"x10 1/2"x1"tall. My finished size with buttercream and fondant was about a 12"Wx5"D.x9 1/2"T. I carved the side in a bit, which had it really 3 1/2" from the edge to the middle of the center. Hope that makes sense!! If not, ask me more questions!
