Homer Simpson Cake
My 1st 'decorated' cake. I made this for my daughter's 2nd birthday, she was mad about Homer at the time (a week later she discovered Dora!). It is a cream-filled chocolate cake, decorated with buttercream. When I look at it now, all I see is how uneven my icing is, but I was very proud at the time - and my daughter loved it!

To get the Homer shape, I found a picture I liked, photocopied it to enlarge it, then placed it on the cake and cut around it using a long knife. I filled in the details freehand, using the picture as a guide. Thanks all for the lovely comments!
