Beautiful - my husband is from Lousiana so my first thought was Mardi Gras!! Great job!

Great job! Love the colors

Thank you. The masks are gumpaste rolled fairly thin, laid over the outside of a plastic mask and then cut to the shape, also cut out the eye holes. Let dry on the plastic form for a few hours or over night. Carefully slide off from mask mold, turn over and dry the other side. Paint with petal dust thinned with Everclear.

What is the difference between lust dust and petal dust? how do you get perfect diamonds?

flourgrl Says... 8 years ago

Thank you so much for posting this! I have a Mardi Gras cake in a few weeks and I have yet to make the masks! This is the exact inspiration I need!

ShirleyW Says... 8 years ago

Oh good, glad it was helpful. Estasrica I just pmed you a link for the diamond cutter. Pearl dust has sparkles in it, petal dust is matte or dull.
