i've done one like this several times; isn't it fun! it fools so many people :) i love the flower. i usually use silk or real lol. in mine i have a shallow terra cotta dish that i bake a chocolate cake in; ice with choc frosting and oreo crumbles; almond slivers for spines :) i think next time i'll try the way you did yours :) very nice job!

Oh I think this is a GREAT summer cake!! I would like to know what you baked your cake in. I don't know about baking in terra cotta. Maybe Pampered Chef needs to come out with a flower pot baking pan. I'm guessing the spines here are made of fondant. This is a great cake!

Thank you. The cake-pot is a sponge cake and a cream. The wrapper is not classic fondant, but similar to fondant: mass of milk powder and sugar powder. The spikes are made of this mass. The dirt is made of grated milk mass. Excuse me, please, my imperfect English-language. :)
