Pirate Ship

Pirate Ship on Cake Central

This cake used three 10"x10" madeira cakes stacked and carved - for thirty 6yo boys! Sugarpaste everywhere, except the pirates and the sails. It was a nightmare - it was so hot the brown sugarpaste woudn't harden! Used lots of ideas from this site - the cannons, the sails, the anchor, the sharks...this site is a treasure chest...:)

wow I want to make a cake like this for my nephew who will be turning 4, what did you use for the railing and the sides of the boat?

Thank you for your kind comments! I found the pirates in a cake decorating shop (I'm in the UK) The railing and sides are brown sugarpaste. They use a lot of cocoa in it to get the brown colour so it tastes quite chocolatey.

Thank you! The floorboards were just a some light brown sugarpaste mixed with white, rolled out and indented with a ruler to look like planks.

Love this cake. My husband challenged me to make a pirate ship cake for our soon to be nine year old son, but I have no clue how to. Please help. Thanks.

Great job!! I am making a pirate ship cake TOMORROW and am wondering if you can PM me and tell me how you stacked the cakes (are there dowels in there?) Thanks so much !!!!!

The tiers were not cut, it was different layers. I used Madeira cake, so it kept the sharp corners easily.

Thank you Raynuha! I got lots of ideas from this site, and the sugarpaste is shop bought. It is also called fondant.
