Kitchen Cake

Kitchen Cake on Cake Central

Most unusual but interesting cake challenge! Client wanted a cake that was an exact replica of their kitchen. His gift to his wife for her birthday, was a kitchen remodel, and wanted a cake that she could demolish! He was an engineer, and designed the model frame for me (complete to scale!). The island and back counters were cake, the oven, fridge and upper cabinets were styrofoam. Everything done in fondant.

Thanks you guys! The floor boards aren't cake - they were the actual flooring of their kitchen (did I mention this guy was an engineer!) It was fun to work on!

Way too cute! Nice job working with the theme! I love his idea of letting her "demolish" it! Don't you just LOVE it when the Client comes to you with a nifty idea like that??? :D Excellent work!

If she's demolishing........is the 'before' kitchen??? If so I'm jealous as to what the new one would look like. I'd be so happy with this one. It looks amazing and you would never believe it was cake. I'm sure because of this you will soon have a request for a baby shower cake from the same couple. :o

Absolutely fabulous!! The details in this are amazing!! It must have taken quite a few hours of work if not days!!

Wjat a fun cake to do! Nice to have the model to help, but still a lot of time I am sure! Great idea for a surprise like this!

Wow!!!! I'm so jealous!! You had a Geoff, just like Duff does!! Can you employ him? This is so cool! Your details are fantastic!

Absolutely wonderful! How great to work with such a great client and how involved he was with this cake as well. The only thing that could have made this cake even more spectacular than it already is would have been a gumpaste figurine of his wife standing in the kitchen. Once again, Great Job!

OH MY GOSH! This is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! WOW! I kinda wish I had this kitchen! LOL! You really should send this picture into one of those "how to build things" magazines or even into one of those shows like "this old house". This cake really needs to be published. If I saw this in a magazine, I would cut it out and save it! AMAZING!!

when I first saw the thumbnail figured it was an photo of someones ACTUAL kitchen, this is amazing! My fingers are tingling just thinking about all the tiny detail that went it to this cake! Awesome job! 8O

Excellent cake...unfortunately it reminds me of CSI's miniature killer - I'm looking for the dead body. You've done unbelievable work. 8O

I can't get over all the detail! Post-its on the fridge, right down to the plug going from the toaster to the wall. Just incredible!
