I threw this together using leftover buttercream icing from the cheerleading cakes I made the day before. I love this cake recipe though....it's a 10" chocolate/chocolate chip cake from the cake doctor book.

This is one of the best cakes that I've seen. So simple and so incredibly smooth. How did you get your icing so sooth? It looks perfect.
thx kimhamjohn!! - i use the wilton BC recipe (half butter, half crisco) & the VIVA papertowel method for smoothing....i'm a perfectionist, so i go around the cake with the towel a couple times....but it's easier than it looks :0)

Such a simple looking cake but sometimes it's the simple ones that require the most work because you don't have tons of decorations to cover up bad spots :) If you don't mind, could you send me that recipe from the cake doctor book? You can pm me or my email is [email protected]
