This was a round 12 inch cake with sunflower petals made of fondant. The center of the 'flower' is a cupcake iced with chocolate icing.

Actually, no, I didn't use a cookie cutter. I drew out on parchment paper what I wanted the petals to look like and then used that for a template to cut the fondant. Thanks for looking everyone!
