i carved the piano shape from a 9" square. the lid is fondant covered cardboard. the legs are 7" push-in pillars painted with chocolate. they are pushed into 2 stacked 1/2 sheets.

That is awesome! I have done a couple of piano cakes but I cheated, I used the Wilton piano pans. I don't know if I would ever attempt to carve a piano cake
