Well... this cake ended up looking differently than I had planned but..it was my first time using the color mist and my first time doing the stacked construction like this. My husband thought it was like a traffic signal (red, yellow, green) since it's the cake for their office today. I hope it transports well and I hope they get a kick out of it.

I wish I would have smoothed the sides one more time before doing the color mist but...after doing it I couldn't smooth them. Oh well lesson learned. :o)

It looks very nice... if you use the crusting buttercream icing, you can use the smooth side of a Viva papertowel and rub lightly to get a much smoother effect .. I do this to all my cakes :)

I did but...needed to another time before doing the color mist. The color mist really made everything show.

Did you use dowl rods or push pillars when stacking? I've never used dowl rods and I dont know why but I'm scared too!!

I used the dowel rods and it really wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. I got a pair of garden cutters and a rubber hammer to *build* with. I have used the pilar const. before so...wanted different *lesson*. :D I forgot to mention that they all loved the cake! Next month, my freezer permitting, I might try a cupcake cake for them.
