This cake was frosted with buttercream. The black frosting is stiffened buttercream. I stiffened it to prevent it from "bleeding" into the white.

What type of bc do you use? It is so smooth and beautiful!
Thank you all for your wonderful feedback! I used an ordinary crusting BC and smoothed it with Viva papertowels and an offset spatula.
