Madagascar 3D

Madagascar 3D on Cake Central

I made the lemurs & penguins from sugarpaste a couple of days earlier. The rest are cake. Melman (giraffe) actually collapsed twice when i was moving the cake (although i had secured the pillars to the cake board), so i gave up at the end and placed him on his tummy. I did manage to get this shot first. Its all a little messy...i used the satnd up lamb for Alex the lion's head & body, and the rest of it for Melman. Gloria (hippo) was the ball tin. Marty (zebra) was the train tin, shaven off here and there.

lol...thank you for all ur comments! yes, i covered everything with fondant and then painted over.i was really tired by the time i got to Melman, so it could have been neater. and the leaves were pretty messy. i would recommend doing the leaves earlier with sugarpaste and then sticking them on in the end. i was just smashing on pieces of fondant and covering it all with green color, and dubbing em 'leaves"..

You attempted a big thing here and I think it was a sucess! Who cares if Melman's head fell off? This is awesome!

as you can see in this pic, Melman's neck is broken...lol. It was for my daughters 3rd birthday. She loved her cake, although it took 5 hours of decorating.

It only took 5 hours?!?! That looks like it took a lot more work than that!! I bet your daughter loved it!!! Great job!
