Jen & Brandon's Wedding

Jen & Brandon's Wedding on Cake Central

These are all dummy cakes, except for the top tier. The main cake is 6", 10", 14" and the satellite cakes are 6", 8" and 10". The hurricane lamps are filled with sand, shells, and water - the goldfish were left at home due to high heat! The wedding had a beach theme...very fitting, as we live just about on Lake Michigan! I added white chocolate shells to the smallest cake, and also placed some with the flower arrangements to tie all the cakes together. There were also 24 centerpiece cakes.

Thank you! Jen had seem a similar set-up at a bridal show, but with fishbowls. I found this set of hurricane lams at Sam's Club for only $25!!! And, I have at least one other person interested in a similar wedding cake for next year.

Well, actually, I am a wonderful procrastinator! Although I had everything bought and ready to go, I didn't start anything until Friday when I made three pounds of chocolate shells, and around 16 batches of icing. I baked my cakes that night, torted and filled them, then decorated them yesterday morning, finished just in time to deliver and set up! It was way too hot all this week, and very humid...no A/C, so I did it all at my neighbor's house (except for the baking Friday night - did that at home).

Wow..really unique! The cakes look great, too! Did they do such a big dummy cake because they had cakes at each table but wanted a big, beautiful cake for the pictures?

The story behind the big cake is that they would have been charged 1.00+ to cut and serve a wedding cake, and at least half that to just serve a pre-cut cake...so, they went with the centerpiece cakes, and still wanted the big cake for show.
