Very pretty cake and flowers. How thick do you ice your cakes? When I did my son's wedding cake, I was having problems getting the icing smooth. The caterer told me to just keep adding layers of icing until I got it smooth. He said he usually puts icing on 3/4 to an inch thick. That is way too much icing for me!

On the bottom tier and the 2nd tier from the top, it was thicker, but not that thick ... I had to do it a bit thicker to cover the red velvet that bled thru on the icing ... if I ever get another order for red velvet, I will use some type of glaze that will not let the red food coloring from the red velvet bleed through the icing ... my icing was no where as thick as this guy told you to put it that's for sure lol

Thanks Cindy :) I had so many probs w/this one .. the red velvet bled through the icing and I had to redo all the icing on it again this morning .. I was up at 5:30 a.m. redoing all the icing on the 2 tiers that were red velvet ... If I ever do another red velvet cake, I will have to figure out a way to seal in the red color on these cakes!
