Two-Tier Gift Box Cake

This two-tier gift box cake was for a Surprise 30th Birthday party a mom threw for her daughter. The theme of the party was a Mexican fiesta-ish party. We decided not to go Mexican for the cake - but festive indeed! It is white cake with Oreos and Cream Buttercream, covered in vanilla buttercream and rolled fondant. I threw in a few sugar cookies decorated in the same color for a little more fun!

Truly awesome. Did you just calculate the board under the top cake so precisely that you could pipe that border around it? GREAT job. And I love how you did the lid on the top box.

Great job, How did you get the corners on the top cake so crisp as opposed to the rounded look fondant gives?

Thanks! I buttercream my square cakes and put them in the freezer. Then I use a metal bench scraper on the sides to get clean edges. I fondant the cakes when the buttercream is still really cold so it keeps that clean line.

What size cakes are these? And are they two layers each? I love this cake!
