This was my first present cake and it only about 6 tries to the get bottom right. Because it was the largest, it was the hardest. I ended up mixing in some white chocolate fondant which allowed me roll the fondant thinner. Also despite the appearance the mitered corner is not folded on the inside, but cut with a smoothed edge. Hope this helps.
Shapes were cut from fondant and applied over a base layer of fondant. Top layer diamonds, middle layer leaves, bottom layer stripes. For the ribbon, I used a trailing leaf stencilm cut the ribbon and then edged with a tracing wheel to resemble stitches. Hope this helps.
