Confederate Fort

Confederate Fort on Cake Central

11 year old boy wanted a confederate cannon cake. I used pirouette cookies to create the fort and floored it in brown mmf. I made the soldiers out of gumpaste and then dug through my five year olds toy chest at 3 am desperately searching a canon. BINGO! It even fired cannon balls. Unfortunately, if he ever see the picture I am in big trouble.

Thank you!! I WAY overbooked myself this weekend and worked 66 hours in 3 days. I was about half crazy by the time I got to this cake after working straight through two nights with no sleep. If I hadn't found that cannon I think I would have run away from home!!

ally_angel mmf is marshmallow fondant. real easy. real cheap and very tasty. much easier to work with than regular fondant I think. It stretches and repairs better. Also so much cheaper and tastier it is unreal!

ally_angel: for a small batch just use 10 large marshmallows and 1 tablespoon of water. Microwave 45 seconds or so until large and fluffy. Stir til liquid and no lumps. Microwave more if needed. Add 1 cup confectioners sugar. stir in. add another 1/2 cup and stir all you can to mix. put a very little shortening on your hands and start to knead like dough. continue adding bits of sugar and kneading until it is no longer sticky and is the consistency of a medium dough.
