Including The Children
We allowed our children from our previous marriages to plan our wedding. Our six year old daughters each wanted their own cake top. I designed the cake, my husband made the stand and a friend did the actual baking. I made the kids cake tops to match the one that I purchased for us. I used the ring bearer and flower girl figures from Wilton, glued them to the clear base then attached the clear heart. I used the same type flowers and ribbons in the approprate colors for each cake top.
The cake is trimmed with pink pearl. The cake stand is made of plywood, dowel rods and pvc pipe. My husband took my cake plates and made bases for them. He drilled out holes for the legs of each plate, so that the cake plates would not slide off of the cake stand. I trimmed his wooded bases with lace. The bases are attached to the bottom board with a very thick dowel rod further supported by the pvc pipe. I spray painted everything ivory then draped a piece of my dress material over the cake stand
