ajay, It was a Betty Crocker mix and b/c icing ( thin) mixed with strawberry jam. I make the filling a couple of days in advance so that it "cures" in the fridge. Haven't had much luck with the scratch cakes so I stick with the boxed ones.

ohmygosh, your roses are incredible!!! beautiful cake :)
I worry the most about my roses. They get away from me...very hot hands! Someone here suggested using hershey kisses for the centers. It really helped and there is enough kiss to have something to grab onto when positioning them. Thank you for the nice words.
