"don't Be A Pale Face"

"don't Be A Pale Face" on Cake Central

My contribution to the Sweet Summer collaboration in 2016 is a sugar representation of the famous Coppertone advertisement, "Don't Be A Pale Face". Both the little girl and the dog are modeling chocolate with wire armatures, the shells are modeling chocolate and the sand is rye flour.

wow! your modeling and painting skills are amazing :)

So do you form it out of white chocolate and then paint it all using gel colors? or form the dog out of dark chocolate? so cool

Thanks so much, Coffeelover77!!  You are so kind!

I usually make white modeling chocolate and tint it with gel colors.  The little girls skin, for instance, I tinted the tan color prior to sculpting and did her hair a pale yellow.  Addition color, like cheeks, eyes, etc. are painted on using petal dusts either dry or mixed with vodka.  This dog, however, I made from dark chocolate to make it easier to paint black.  He smelled SO yummy!
